About us

Location - Central Hawkes Bay, 40 kms west of Waipukurau near the Wakarara and Ruahine Ranges.
Size - 3,186 hectares eff (7,872 acres) Wintering 31,000 stock units.
Trainees - Eleven cadets per year for a two year course. (22 cadets on station)
Type of training - Very much a practical hands on training with theory to back up the practical.

When training takes place - This is a commercial farm so the year starts mid January and finishes close to Christmas.

How it works -
The cost of the training is nil. Apart from clothes, harness gear and dogs, all costs including food and accommodation are covered by the station. First year cadets are involved mainly in general work and second year cadets mainly in stock work.
